Chelsea vs Tottenham Preview : Lineups, team news and betting odds

Chelsea host Tottenham in what could, ironically be the title decider of the season, without Chelsea being involved in the race from the start of the season. The equation is simple for Tottenham, if Chelsea defeats them, Leicester City are the champions of England.

The Blues fans have expressed a desire to see their London rivals fail in their title pursuit so the Blues will be fired up for this match.

Chelsea fans will be really happy after seeing their start player, and last season’s Player Of The Year, Eden Hazard coming back to form and netting two goals past Bournemouth last weekend. He is expected to play a pivotal role in tomorrow’s match.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has been widely praised for his work at White Hart Lane. Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink said: “They are having a very good season. I respect very much the work that Mauricio is doing at Tottenham, in a very calm way, and it shows in the team. I’ve seen many matches, and they play in a way I like to see a team play, which is attractive. He is doing a very good job. They have shown, this year, a run of stability. The way they play is a way for success. They have a very good balance in their team, defensively well organised and a very strong urge to attack. It’s a complete team and, though I’m Chelsea, I’ve seen them play this season and I enjoyed it very much.”

Chelsea captain John Terry has recovered from an Achilles injury in time to take his place in the squad for the Spurs game, while Gary Cahill will also return after illness kept him out of last Saturday’s win at Bournemouth.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Past meetings:

Chelsea has quite a decent record against their north London rival. Last season, they won this fixture by three goals to nil, and the season before that, they scored four past Hugo Lloris. Earlier this season, these two sides played out a goalless draw at White Hart Lane.

Chelsea winger Pedro has urged his team-mates to avoid the embarrassment of becoming the first Chelsea side to lose to London rivals Tottenham at Stamford Bridge for 26 years.

“None of us want to be part of the team that lose the record and we are really concentrating on making sure we keep the run going. Is it another incentive that beating Spurs will stop them winning the League? Yes. But the most important thing for us is to win this match. The fact it could have an effect on the championship and be advantageous to Leicester is secondary. Leicester have played really well this season and deserve to be where they are. I realise this is a big big game for the Chelsea fans, the players. I know it is a really important derby in England and a match that is always played with a lot of passion and emotion.” he said in an interview.
