David Moyes has admitted he believed Manchester United had signed Cesc Fabregas before the midfielder joined Chelsea.
Fabregas, who moved to the Blues from Barcelona in the summer of 2014, was in talks over a possible transfer to Old Trafford, the former United boss also stated.
‘We thought we were taking him to Manchester United. We spoke to him at the time but, unfortunately, it didn’t happen,’ Moyes told Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday.
‘Manchester United are always in for the top players, we were in for the top players at the time. They were in for the top players recently and they will be in for them again.’
Fabregas has since gone on to make 80 appearances for Chelsea after the Red Devils missed out on landing the 28-year-old.
