Hiddink`s Press Conference - Southampton

Pre-match press conferences are not what they used to be now that Jose has gone and Guus is in the hot-seat.

They seem to be less high-profile and less controversial, now whether that`s a good thing or a bad thing I`ll let you decide.

This lunch-time the journalists one again assembled to hear what the Dutchman had to say and the two pertinent topics picked out relate to injuries and the possible new manager.

Talking about the injury situation, Guus informed those present that John Terry will not be in the starting eleven, remarking,

'He`s still in treatment, in the gym, doing exercises on the pitch but not fit."

Guus also confirmed, not surprisingly that Radamel Falcao and Alexandre Pato are both not available for selection.

Moving on to the possibility that Antonio Conte is set to be announced, possibly next week, as our new permanent manager, Guus coolly remarked,

'You have heard more than me because that`s your job.

'I`m not involved in this and that's all you'll get from me. I`m in favour that when things are done, you make it transparent.'

However, he did advise whoever might be taking the job that it is essential to immerse yourself in the culture of the country.
