Chelsea News Summary: Surprise information about Brazilian star, Conte to Chelsea done deal?

Alexandre Pato was close to Atlético Mineiro before his move to Chelsea

Chelsea striker Alexandre Pato narrowly missed out on a loan move to Atlético Mineiro until the end of December.

There was a delay in completing Pato’s move to Chelsea, and Corinthians saw Atlético Mineiro as an alternative if negotiations with the Premier League side failed to materialize. According to the information from Brazilian journalistBruno Andrade, the former AC Milan man was involved in the deal for the transfer of striker André from Atlético to Corinthians. Despite the delay and fear of Corinthians, Pato was passed on to the Blues until July. In England since the beginning of February, the player still awaits his first opportunity in the team led by Guus Hiddink. Pato has only made the bench in recent matches, and this has generated anger at Corinthians, who might have asked the player’s representatives to put pressure on the English team to play him.

Without getting Pato, Atlético Mineiro managed to close the signing of Robinho, who signed a two year deal. The former striker of Santos played for Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande in the second half of last year.

Juventus chief confirms that Antonio Conte will join Chelsea

Italian giants Juventus chief Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that Italian national team manager Antonio Conte is going to Chelsea this summer.

Former Juve Boss is a massive fan favourite at Serie A defending champions and led them to three consecutive Serie A titles after taking over. Marotta has claimed that Chelsea’s decision to hire Conte proves that Juventus made the right call to hire him a few years ago.

Marotta explained that it was a very good decision to hire Conte from Siena and he is proud of it.

“The fact Antonio Conte is going to Chelsea just confirms that we made a good choice when we took him from Siena,” he said. “I am proud of this and for him.”

Conte will join up with the Chelsea squad after the Euros in France and will be expected to take them back to the Champions League.

Chelsea are currently 10th in the Premier League and are highly unlikely to finish in the top four.

The Italian will be the long term replacement for Jose Mourinho. Interim boss Guus Hiddink will leave at the end of this season.

According to earlier reports, Abramovich has already confirmed the move to the Chelsea players and Conte will be officially announced in July.

Conte is expected to earn around £20m over the duration of this three-year contract at Chelsea.
Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid: Chelsea hope £73m pricetag will warn off La Liga giants

Defending Premier League champions Chelsea hope their £73million world-record valuation o fThibaut Courtois will scare off Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are considering making another move for the keeper this summer should they fail to prise David de Gea out of Manchester United.

Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois is understood to be keen to return to La Liga in the future after a three-year spell on loan from Chelsea at Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea have responded to an enquiry by Real for Courtois last summer by putting a £73m fee on his head, more than double the Gianluigi Buffon fee for his switch to Juventus from Parma in 2001.

Premier League giants do not think his value has dropped and he remains one of the best young keepers in the world.

He has more than three years of his contract remaining and, having let Petr Cech join Arsenal last summer, Chelsea would only let Courtois go for a massive fee.

Real’s move for De Gea collapsed on transfer deadline day when a faulty fax machine prevented the paperwork being done in time. He signed a new four-year contract but it is thought to include a Real release clause.

Real might be encouraged by Courtois’ revelation yesterday that he enjoys playing behind Belgium’s defence rather than Chelsea’s.

He said: “We’re still conceding too many goals and that’s not entirely the defence’s fault, even though I prefer playing with Belgium’s back four.”

Meanwhile,  Belgian stars back-up keeper Asmir Begovic has hinted he is prepared to stay next term. He had made 19 appearances by November due to Courtois suffering a knee injury, but has played just once since then.

He said: “(Moving to Chelsea) wasn’t as simple as being No1 or No2 — I felt I needed a new challenge.

“Certain things were put in place, conversations sounded good to me and I wanted to be part of a great club and help the team win trophies.

“It hasn’t gone as planned, but hopefully that will change and the future will look a bit brighter.
