The 35-year-old centre-back played under Ranieri at Stamford Bridge for four years between 2000 and 2004, before the Italian coach was sacked by the Blues despite guiding the West London outfit to second place in the Premier League and a Champions League semi-final.
Chelsea came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw with London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at home on Monday night in an highly-charged affair which resulted in the visitors being shown nine yellow cards, a Premier League record.
Speaking after the game as reported by the Daily Express, Terry was keen to praise the man behind steering the Foxes to this incredible feat, saying: “Players are fighting for league titles, it’s emotions. Congratulations to Leicester because they have been superb this year.
“(Ranieri) has been different class, to do what they have done has been unbelievable and given hope to the smaller sides.
“He’s a great manager and a great person. All season long they have kept churning out results.”
Leicester City’s achievement places them among a small group of teams that have won the Premier League title and much credit has to go to the likes of N’Golo Kante, Riyad Mahrez and in particular, Jamie Vardy, who has netted 22 goals in a stunning campaign.
