Chelsea News Summary: World-class duo close to Chelsea, PSG ace on radar

Ligue 1 giants Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti, who has been heavily linked with Arsenal and Chelsea, would be open to a summer move to Newcastle, according to his agent.

The Newcastle Chronicle argue the Magpies are readying a £10million move for the 22-year-old once the transfer window reopens and assuming the club avoid relegation from the Premier League.

1But Steve McClaren’s side reportedly face competition with Arsenal and Chelsea among the clubs also competing for his signature.

French outlet FootMercato linked the Gunners with the young centre-half last summer, while the Telegraph report the Blues are also interested.

And now his agent and brother Yannick admits he would be open to a move to England and would consider St James’ Park as a potential destination.

The representative told France Foot 01: “I was contacted in recent weeks by English agents who discussed the idea of Newcastle.

“But honestly, not a single concrete offer has been made at this point. We would consider an offer from Newcastle and the interest of other clubs who will eventually position themselves this summer.”

Italian website Tutto Mercato Web had an exclusive on Paris-Saint Germain star Edinson Cavani. TMW argued the Blues were in talks with Cavani’s representatives, and could reach an agreement because the player wants to switch clubs in the summer.

The likes of Manchester United, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid have also been linked to the Uruguayan forward, and it now seems they can get their man in the summer.

Edinson-Cavani_3054080As per the French journalist Laurent Perrin, Paris-Saint Germain will be willing to offload the striker in the summer, and the door is open for Cavani to leave.

Perrin claims Paris-Saint Germian owner, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, blocked any possible transfer last summer, but will not stand in his way this summer, as they already have enough players in his position.

It’s likely the defending champions will be looking to sign a striker in the summer, and Manchester United too. We don’t know yet if Manchester United will qualify for the Champions League next season, but if Cavani is willing to drop the idea of playing in the Champions League then he might have several interested clubs in the Barclays Premier League.

According to the latest reports, Antonio Conte “has recommended” Chelsea to snap up two top stars when he becomes their new boss this summer.

Conte, 46 is set to be Jose Mourinho’s permanent replacement after his commitments with Italy at their Euro 2016 campaign are seen through.

And the 46-year-old manager is already drawing up a list of transfer targets for when he takes over at the Stamford Bridge helm.

1As per the Times, Conte wants Roma midfielders Miralem Pjanic and Radja Nainggolan.

The defending champions have been keen on Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Pjanic for some time and will likely make a move for him given Conte’s interest.

The 25-year-old’s current deal runs until 2018 and current interim boss Guus Hiddink tried to bring him to Chelsea in his first spell in charge five years ago.

Pjanic, 25 a dead-ball specialist, has 11 goals and ten assists in Serie A this season.

Conte also wants Belgian box-to-box bruiser Nainggolan.

The 27-year-old Nainggolan, has also courted interest from Manchester United recently, would add steel to the Blues’ central midfield alongside Nemanja Matic.

Antonio Conte is keen to be confirmed as Chelsea’s new boss following a face-to-face meeting with Roman Abramovich in Monte Carlo.

The Sun say the Juventus legend will agree terms on a three-year deal.
