Chelsea's international break: Thibaut Courtois confusion over future talk
Here's a look at how Chelsea's players fared over the international break.
BELGIUM
Thibaut Courtois: Man of the match in Belgium's 2-1 defeat to Portugal in Leiria, though failed to commit to Chelsea when asked for comments on his future at the club.
BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA
Asmir Begovic: Played the first half of Bosnia's comprehensive 3-0 win over Luxembourg on Friday night, making one good save on his first appearance for club or country since mid-January. Completed 62 minutes and kept a clean sheet on Tuesday as Bosnia beat Switzerland 2-0 in Zurich.
BRAZIL
Willian: Provided the cross for Douglas Costa to open the scoring in a 2-2 World Cup qualifying draw at home to Uruguay in Recife. Played a key role again as Brazil battled back from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw with Paraguay in Asuncion, setting up Dani Alves for a dramatic late equaliser.
Oscar: An unused substitute in matches against Uruguay and Paraguay.
BURKINA FASO
Bertrand Traore: Started and carried a constant threat during Burkina Faso's 1-0 home win over Uganda in Africa Nations Cup qualifying. Then helped his team secure a goalless draw away in Uganda on Tuesday to keep them at the top of Group D and on course for the tournament finals.
ENGLAND
Gary Cahill: Captained England for the first time as Roy Hodgson's men came from two goals down to beat Germany 3-2 in Berlin on Saturday. Rested for Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to Netherlands at Wembley, with Everton youngster John Stones making a costly mistake in his absence.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek: Played 69 minutes of England under-21s' 1-1 draw with Switzerland in Thun on Tuesday alongside Chelsea loanees Lewis Baker and John Swift.
GHANA
Baba Rahman: Started along with Chelsea loanee Christian Atsu on Thursday as Avram Grant's Ghana swept aside Mozambique 3-1 in African Nations Cup qualifying. On Sunday he was picked at left-back again for the return fixture in Mozambique and carried an attacking threat from the flank, but Ghana were held to a goalless draw.
NIGERIA
John Obi Mikel: Marked his appointment as the new Nigeria captain with a 1-1 draw against Egypt in Africa Nations Cup qualifying in Kaduna, his team denied by a late equaliser from former Chelsea player Mohamed Salah. Could not prevent Egypt triumphing 1-0 in the return fixture in Alexandria and will now have to watch the final tournament from afar.
SERBIA
Branislav Ivanovic: Played 90 minutes as captain on Wednesday but could not prevent Serbia losing to a Jakub Blaszczykowski goal against Poland in Poznan. Wore the armband again on Tuesday as an Aleksandar Kolarov free-kick edged out Estonia in Tallinn.
Nemanja Matic: Brought off with five minutes left of Serbia's 1-0 defeat to Poland but featured prominently again as Estonia were beaten.
SPAIN
Cesar Azpilicueta: Started at left-back for Spain against Italy in Udine and played 90 minutes as Aritz Aduriz cancelled out Lorenzo Insigne's opener to earn Vicente Del Bosque's side a share of the spoils. Was an unused substitute for Sunday's goalless draw with Romania in Cluj.
Cesc Fabregas: Started and finished in an advanced midfield role in Udine and, with the score at 1-1, provided a pass that allowed Alvaro Morata to test Gianluigi Buffon with a header. Came on as a second-half substitute against Romania and laid on chances for Morata and Juan Mata, to no avail.
Pedro: An unused substitute against Italy, he earned a start on the right flank against Romania and forced an early save when he raced on to a David Silva pass. Replaced by Mata on 66 minutes.
USA
Matt Miazga: Got his first taste of competitive action since November as USA under-23s claimed a 1-1 draw with Colombia in the first leg of their Olympic qualifying playoff. Was sent off in final minutes of the return match on Tuesday for committing a foul as the last man as Colombia beat USA 2-1 in Texas and 3-2 on aggregate to reach the final tournament.
