Chelsea could sign £28m-rated Radja Nainggolan by offloading Branislav Ivanovic – report

Chelsea could be set to finally sign £28m-rated Radja Nainggolan from Roma this summer, but the deal may only go ahead if Branislav Ivanovic leaves for the Italian giants, according to reports.

Chelsea’s new manager, Antonio Conte, has busy summer ahead of him. After completing his work with Italy at Euro 2016, he will be tasked with improving the Blues’ first-team squad in the transfer market.

It is widely reported he is interested in Nainggolan, as well as his midfield partner at Roma Miralem Pjanic, and it seems he may well acquire the Belgian’s signature at Stamford Bridge this season.

According to the Mirror, the only way this will happen is if Branislav Ivanovic joins Roma, with the Serie A giants extremely keen on signing the Serbia international.

The report also states that Chelsea have held talks with Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini, who has made his appreciation of Ivanovic clear.

With Conte a big fan of Nainggolan, the possibility of a swap deal has arisen.

Should Ivanovic leave, the Blues’ incoming manager is reported to be interested in bringing in Leonardo Bonucci to Chelsea, though the player has played down suggestions of a transfer.

While Conte is keen on a summer move for the Belgian, Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Leicester City star, N’Golo Kante, according to the Mirror.

Radja Nainggolan has created 35 chances in Serie A this season – the third most at AS Roma.
