Report: Chelsea youngster Kyle Scott hands in transfer request

Highly-rated Chelsea midfielder Kyle Scott is ready to leave the club after handing in a transfer request, according to ESPN FC.

Scott, 18, joined Chelsea as an Under-10 from Southampton and has since risen through the ranks to establish himself as one of the club’s top prospects, winning the FA Youth Cup in 2015 and the UEFA Youth League over the last two seasons.

The US youth international only signed a new deal until 2019 in February after breaking into the Under-21s at the start of this term, but he could now be set to leave Stamford Bridge before getting the chance to make his mark on the first-team.

According to ESPN FC, the youngster is currently being tracked by a host of top European clubs and has now informed Chelsea that he wants to move on this summer rather than make a bid to impress incoming manager Antonio Conte.

Born in Bath to an English father and American mother, Scott received his first call-up to the US Under-20 squad last September but has also featured for England Under-16s and Republic of Ireland Under-17s in the past.

The skilful central midfielder was linked with the likes of Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona in the summer of 2013 after recovering from a broken leg [h/t Daily Mail], but he ultimately stayed at Chelsea before signing his first professional deal in December 2014.

This season, he has featured 11 times for the club’s Under-21s, while also scoring three goals in nine UEFA Youth League appearances – including the winner in the quarter-final clash with Ajax.
