According to the Daily Star, AS Roma have denied that Juventus have triggered Miralem Pjanic’s release clause, who is closely monitored by Chelsea, since the beginning of the season.
This news could be a huge boost for Premier League duo Chelsea and Man United who are thought to be interested in the attacking midfielder. While the Serie A champions are yet to make a formal offer, they are still in pole position for the Bosnia and Herzegovina international.
AS Roma released a statement to quash rumours that they were about to lose the 26-year-old.
They said: “AS Roma denies today’s report on Sportmediaset.it concerning an alleged payment of the buy-out clause in Miralem Pjanic’s contract as the story is completely groundless.”
Former Lyon ace was believed to have flown to London for talks with Chelsea last month, but is appeared to be a just another rumour.
The Incoming head coach of Chelsea, Antonio Conte is a big fan of the Serie A midfielder and could move up his wish list after Radja Nainggolan distanced himself from a transfer to Stamford Bridge yesterday.
