Garth Crooks has hailed Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante as a teammates’ dream for all of the off-the-ball running he does throughout a game.
Kante put in a strong performance for the Blues at the weekend as Chelsea got back to winning ways at Hull City.
Diego Costa and Willian both got on the scoresheet for Antonio Conte’s side but it was the defensive side of the team that shone and kept their first clean sheet since a 3-0 win over Burnley in their third game of the season.
Kante, especially, drew praise from Garth Crooks who included the Frenchman in his Premier League Team of the Week. The ex-Leicester City man is a teammates’ dream, according to the former Tottenham forward.
"Kante might not be the finest finisher in the world. In fact, he's not a finisher at all. A point that was clearly demonstrated in the game against Hull," Crooks said on BBC Sport.
"In the end, Chelsea beat the Tigers comfortably but it was the running power of Kante that provided the platform for a very important victory for manager Antonio Conte to stop the run of defeats for Chelsea.
"Kante is every footballer's dream team-mate. Anyone who can put in the amount of unselfish running Kante provides each week should be rewarded by his team-mates with a percentage of their bonuses."
The 25-year-old has played every minute of Chelsea's league campaign since joining from Leicester City in the summer and, his performances in recent weeks were criticised heavily.
However, he managed to turn it all around over the weekend with 89% pass accuracy, three successful take-ons and two chances created.
