Deal could be close as Chelsea started talks to sign prolific Serie A duo

The Blues have been given a huge boost in the pursuit of Antonio Rudiger.German defender had been on loan at Roma for the past year, playing 30 games.

However, according to Corriere Dello Sport, the Italian side have chosen not the make his move permanent, freeing up The West London sideto start talks with the centre-back.

The Germany International Rudiger is a solid defender at 6”3 and played nine games for Germany.

However, Chelsea will face stiff competition to land him from The Reds and Gunners who are both reportedly planning to improve their defensive options.

Chelsea’s other summer targets include Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain, according to Spanish football authority Guillem Balague.

“Gonzalo Higuain is a target for Chelsea. I think he would cost around €48m (£38m). Higuain is seriously considering it and if he does move to Stamford Bridge then there would be the possibility that Costa would have to be sold. It’s very difficult for Atletico Madrid, and Diego Simeone in particular. Simeone has told Atletico Madrid he only wants three players: Diego, Costa and Diego Costa.

“He’s determined to get him but it’s not easy to get him as he will have to reduce his wages big time and I’m not sure Atletico will be able to put a huge offer on the table for him.

“It’s one to keep an eye in the future because they certainly want him.” – Balague said
