The injustice of it all!
After what is now being referred to as the 'Battle of the Bridge` the authorities have come down hard on both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
The game, watched around the world, saw Chelsea come back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2, thereby ending Tottenham`s hopes of pushing Leicester City all the way to the Premier League title.
To put it bluntly, it was an unsavoury affair with 12 players receiving yellow cards, nine for Tottenham and three for Chelsea.
The fixture also saw unsavoury mass brawls one of which, in the tunnel after the game, saw Guus Hiddink pushed over.
After taking time to assess the situation, the Football Association have levied record fines on both clubs with Tottenham Hotspur being fined £225,000 and Chelsea being fined £375,000.
To some the fines may seem to be the wrong way around with Tottenham being the main culprits on that Monday night when Eden Hazard lived up to his promise that he`d not let Tottenham win the title.
However, it would appear that we have previous when it comes to a charge of 'failing to control our players' which resulted in the higher fine.
But, it appears that the referee, Mark Clattenburg, who in the eyes of many, lost control of law and order far too early in the clash, has escaped scot-free and will still referee the FA Cup Final this Saturday and the Champions League Final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
Let`s hope he makes a better fist of those tan he did the fixture at Stamford Bridge!
