Saturday 2nd July – Latest Chelsea Transfer Gossip and News

Only a few Chelsea rumours to comment on today, as the Blues remain favourites to sign a Premier League star, while attempting to re-unite with a former player.

The Telegraph claim that N’Golo Kante has decided to move to Chelsea, snubbing several other major teams in the process. The Leicester City midfielder was one of the stars of the Premier League last season, and has continued to impress with the French national team. The Foxes have apparently offered the 25-year-old a new contract worth £100,000-a-week in an attempt to retain his services, as they successfully did with Jamie Vardy, but Kante will reject the deal in order to join the Blues.

Transfer Probability: 3/5 – Although Chelsea could certainly offer higher wages than Leicester, there would be no European football next season, whereas Champions League would be guaranteed elsewhere. It also seems doubtful that Kante has made his decision yet, seeing as he’s currently playing in the Euros.

Chelsea and Manchester United are competing2 for the signature of Marseille midfielder Lassana Diarra, according to beIN Sports. The 31-year-old French international has seen his career revitalised at the Stade Velodrome, prompting interest from a number of sides, including former team Chelsea. Diarra made just 13 league appearances over two seasons under Jose Mourinho, before moving to Arsenal in 2007. The Blues and United have both submitted formal offers for the star, as Marseille sell their main players to improve financial woes.

Transfer Probability: 4/5 – Would Diarra really want to be re-united with Mourinho considering the lack of opportunities he previously received? Probably not, and Chelsea could be set to win this transfer battle.

Lastly, Turkish outlet SporX claim that Chelsea have agreed a loan deal to send defender Kenneth Omeruo to Besiktas. The Nigerian international centre-back has spent his entire senior career on loan, impressing with Super Lig side Kasimpasa last season. The 22-year-old has just two years remaining on his contract, but has yet to make an appearance for the Blues.

Transfer Probability: 5/5 – Another Chelsea player that spends his entire time on loan and will not break into the starting line-up. Almost guaranteed that a move will happen, and Besiktas is certainly a more fitting destination for an international player than previous clubs.
