Traore was drafted into the starting line-up for the game away to Norwich City and seized his opportunity as he provided an assist for Diego Costa and was lively throughout his 60 minutes on the field in the 2-1 win.
Another youngster thrown into the mix was Kenedy, who scored Chelsea’s opener within the first minute of the match.
“[Traore and Kenedy] are knocking on the door,” said Hiddink post-match. “They work seriously in training and then you have to play them, especially when there is a tight schedule. They need the experience of playing from the start in intense Premier League games which is why I don’t hesitate to bring them in.
.
“Traore came on in the previous games and had good appearances with goals. Starting is a little bit different but it’s good to have that experience. He stumbled a couple of times when he normally could have scored but that is a good experience for him.”
Traore’s performance on Tuesday night earned him a considerable amount of praise from the club’s supporters on social media, and it appears that he has a genuine chance of succeeding at Chelsea.
Whereas many of the starlets that Chelsea don’t even come close to featuring for the first-team, Traore has forced his way into the senior set-up and is now demonstrating that he is at home in the Premier League.
The youngster, who has an average pass accuracy of 87% in the Premier League this season, will hope to retain his place in the starting line-up when Chelsea host Stoke City at the weekend.
