The 2004/05 season was a highly successful one for Chelsea. In Jose Mourinho’s first season in charge at Stamford Bridge, the West London-based side won the Premier League, which was Chelsea’s first Premier League title, and their first top division title in 50 years, since 1954/55.
This season also saw Chelsea win the League Cup in February 2005, defeating Liverpool 3-2 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Chelsea’s Champions League campaign saw the Blues get to the semi-final stage, before being knocked out by a dubious Luis Garcia goal. Newcastle United knocked Mourinho’s side out of the FA Cup in the 5th round, after an early Patrick Kluivert goal.
That season was over a decade ago, and to celebrate the first of Chelsea’s Premier League titles, let’s take a look at the squad of the 2004/05 season in no particular order, and what the players have done in their careers since that memorable season.
