First Antonio Conte Signing? £180,000-A-Week Striker Set To Join Chelsea

Chelsea have received a massive boost in their bid to bring in a striker to the club this summer. As soon as news emerged earlier last month that current Italy national team manager Antonio Conte will be taking over as Chelsea manager, rumours claim the former Juventus manager has an eye on Edinson Cavani and will attempt to sign the PSG star as soon as he becomes Chelsea manager.

Yesterday, it was confirmed Conte will be Chelsea manager from next season and at the same time news emerged that PSG are in the market for another striker as Zlatan Ibrahimovic is likely to leave this summer as well as Cavani.

Cavani had last week during the international break confirmed to the media that there is a chance he will leave PSG this summer claiming the current football year has been his most difficult and that he doesn’t understand what the PSG managment are doing with him. This news will be music in the ears of Chelsea fans and Antonio Conte as it means the Blues have a good chance of signing the Uruguayan.

Reportedly earning £180,000 a week with PSG, his wage demands shouldn’t be a problem for Chelsea especially with the new Premier league TV money coming in from next season.

The South American have also been linked with a move to Arsenal but we all know Wenger won’t pay £180,000 a week to get him and why should Cavani take a pay cut to go to Arsenal ahead of Chelsea when he can even get more pay from the Blues? PSG are likely to demand upward of £30 million for Cavani which would be another barrier for Arsenal. Wenger is certainly not going to pay £30 million and £180,000 a week to a 29 year old striker.

In my opinion, this is one Chelsea transfer that I forsee happening.
