Inter striker Mauro Icardi denies talk of transfer exit amid links to Chelsea"

Mauro Icardi has insisted that he is happy to remain at Inter Milan, despite reported interest from Chelsea.

Icardi, who netted in Inter’s 2-0 win over Napoli on Saturday evening, has scored 15 goals in 29 Serie A appearances this season and the forward has been tipped for a switch to Stamford Bridge.

It is thought the Argentina international is on the wanted list of incoming Blues manager Antonio Conte, according to the Evening Standard. However, it appears that Chelsea will have to look elsewhere in order to bolster their attacking options, with the 23-year-old set to remain in Italy.

Icardi told Corriere della Sera: “It’s the same story every year. Every year I read that I am leaving Inter.

“But I am happy here. I enjoy being Inter captain, being the club’s striker and to score goals here.

“Of course, I want to win trophies, but I want to do it here at Inter, like so many did before me. Next year we will be gunning for the Serie A title and to qualify for the Champions League.

Chelsea have endured an extremely frustrating season and have little to play for in the remainder of the campaign as they are currently languishing in mid-table.

The Blues were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City on Saturday evening, failing to return to winning ways after suffering a disappointing defeat to Swansea City last weekend.

It will be intriguing to see whether Conte will give chances youngsters such as Kenedy and Ruben Loftus-Cheek next season or instead focus mainly on senior players as the club seek to regain the Premier League title.
