What Would Chelsea`s All Time Ranking Be?"

With this season being one we`d rather forget, what with our defence of the title we won last year bordering on the shambolic, we`ve something interesting for you to mull over.

Below is a list of points achieved by the clubs who rank in the top twenty-five who played top flight football.

Before scanning down, or reading the article, try and guess where Chelsea sit in the table, you might be surprised.

25 - Leicester have won 1052 points historically in the English top flight. Sitting seven points clear of the Premier League tree with their remarkable year this term, it could be their best ever historical finish as well as they have never lifted the top flight trophy - having best performed back in 1929 and earning themselves a second place finish. They were also in League One back in 2009.

24 - Burnley have won 2078 points in the English top flight and they are likely to add to that next season as following relegation last term, they have showed foundations can be everything and currently sit second in the Championship table. They have won the title twice before though, back in 1921 and 1960.

23 - Birmingham City have won 2146 points. Birmingham have never won a top flight title, but back in 1955/56 they did achieve a historical best sixth place finish.

22 - Stoke have won 2218 points. The Britannia Stadium outfit have never won the top flight title, but back in 1946 and 1947 they did take fourth place in the table as a best ever finish.

21 - Sheffield United have won 2362 points, and their only top flight title came back in 1898.

20 - Middlesbrough have won 2401 points and many expected them to have already made their Premier League return and they are attempting to successfully do just that this year by sitting in first place in the Championship and avoiding further Play Off disappointment. The Riverside outfit have never won the league, but did finish in third place back in 1914.

19 - Nottingham Forest have taken 2404 and to be honest I didn't realise Brian Clough won that many games. Forest took their one and only top flight title back in 1978 and boast more European Cup wins (two) than top flight League titles and they are the only club that can claim that.

18 - Leeds have won 3455 points and also boast three top flight titles to their name back in 1969, 1974 and 1992. They were also the last club to win the First Division title before money aided the ruining of the game and it rebranded to the Premier League.

17 - Wolves have won 2480 points across their history, and they can boast three top flight titles when you go back to the 1950's.

16 - Derby County have won 2510 points, and easily should've added to that had that not bottled successive promotion campaigns in recent years. Both of their top flight titles came back in 1972 and 1975. They are odds on for the Play Off's again this season.

15 - West Ham have won 2567 points, and despite never winning a top flight title, they finished third in 1986 and will be hoping to come close to that this season sitting only seven points behind Arsenal in the table.

14 - Sheffield Wednesday have won 2781 points in their time. Four titles have also gone their way in 1902 and 1904 and 1929 and 1930. The Play Offs might be on this season as they occupy the last place at the moment.

13 - Bolton Wanderers have won 2824 points. They have never won the league, but have finished third on three occasions - 1892, 1921 and 1925. They had other off pitch issues as well this year - as they find themselves in League One next year.

12 - Blackburn Rovers have won 2947 points and they have won three top flight titles in their history, 1912, 1914 and 1995.

11 - West Bromwich Albion's more stable status in recent years, and not a yoyo side has strongly built on their historical performance as they have won 3058 points but did win the title back in 1920.

10 - Sunderland's performance over the last few seasons aside, they boast an impressive 3469 points historically and they also have six top flight titles to their name, albeit the last coming in 1936.

9 - Newcastle United, another side whose historical performance does not match their current, have 3822 points to their name. They also have four titles in 1905, 1907, 1909 and 1927 but many will have memories of the Kevin Keegan meltdown as their last great chance for a title.

8 - Manchester City have won 3979 points, and no doubt their wealth and planning has aided that hugely over the last few seasons - especially given their own slide down the football pyramid. They boast four titles in 1937, 1968, 2012 and 2014.

7 - Tottenham Hotspur have won 4036 points in their history, and must be kicking themselves that when they finally get ahead of everybody else, they find themselves behind the remarkable Leicester this season. They have two top flight titles to their name in 1951 and 1961.

6 - Chelsea have won 4067 points historically and can boast five titles to their name in 1955, 2005, 2006, 2010 and 2015. This season hasn't really helped them it must be said.

5 - Aston Villa remarkably have 4711 points to their name and seven titles in 1894, 1896, 1997, 1899, 1900, 1910 and 1981. Clearly the last few years for them, and this season especially have not grown that tally by much!

4 - Manchester United have won 5171 points, and clearly the domination under Sir Alex Ferguson severely boosted their points tally, but that's not to do away with their history either with seven titles prior to 1992 but an amazing 13 since the rebranded Premier League came into play.

3 - Everton have won 5222 points in their history, and whilst I guessed they'd do well, this one surprised me. They boast nine top flight titles to their name, but the last came in 1987.

2 - Arsenal have won 5386 points and carry 13 top flight titles to their name. Standout season's would be 1990/91 where they picked up just one defeat, and the 2003/04 unbeaten Invincibles run.

1 - Liverpool have won 5422 points historically and boast 18 titles to their name in the top flight. Since 1990 though they have only been runners up four times - 1991, 2002, 2009 and 2014.
