Nothing can prepare you for the Chelsea job, warns Scolari"

Incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been warned that nothing can prepare you for the Stamford Bridge hot seat by former Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari.

Chelsea have already confirmed that Italy manager Conte will take over from interim manager Guus Hiddink at the end of the European Championships and there is a buzz around his arrival.

However Scolari, who managed Chelsea briefly in 2008 before getting the sack, has warned Conte that nothing can prepare you for the Chelsea job.

Antonio Conte is due to take over at Chelsea when his contract with Italy expires.

He went on to say whilst speaking to the Sun that he believes that everything you have won up until that points counts for nothing because the club always expects instant success.

“You can win the World Cup, be European champion and the best coach on the planet — but that cannot prepare anyone for a job like Chelsea.

“Your coaching record does not count once you’re there because you must win things straightaway. It’s like very few positions in the world because the Premier League is like no other league in the world.

“Everything a coach will have experienced in countries like Italy, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Germany and France will not be the same as in England. You must be prepared to accept it’s different.

“The league is the strongest, most competitive and most unpredictable and the football culture is so different. Plus it’s Chelsea, where the expectations are higher than most clubs in the world and you have some of the biggest players. Coaching Chelsea is like coaching Brazil. The pressure is huge.”

It’s certainly going to be tough for Conte, with Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday showing the scale of the task at hand.

The job is similar to when he first took over at Juventus, with the club having finished some way off the title in the previous season.

Conte’s appointment turned everything around, as Juventus won three titles in a row under their former midfielder.

This feels like a bigger job though, despite Chelsea’s immense riches, and it is going to be fascinating to see how he approaches this challenge.
