According to the latest transfer news from the Daily Mail, Chelsea are on the verge of finalising first summer transfer as the Blues are in talks to sign River Plate defender Emanuel Mammana.
The same sources claim that Mammana’s representatives are already in London to discuss a move with Blues officials. It emerged last week that Chelsea have been monitoring the one-cap Argentine starlet.
Chelsea Incoming head coach Antonio Conte is on the lookout for long-term replacements for John Terry, who recently signed a one-year contract extension. But Chelsea have competition as Mammana’s representatives have also held ‘long negotiations’ with Italian giants Fiorentina and Napoli.
The 20-year-old Mammana has made 32 apps for River Plate since making his debut in 2014. The 20-year-old is under contract until 2019 but has admitted he fancies a move overseas.
He said: “I am only focused on River Plate at the moment.
“Of course I’d love to play abroad but the only thing I am thinking about right now is playing for River.”
The Stamford Bridge side are yet to make a new signing since the Premier League season finished earlier this month.
