The Blues will make a surprise move for Christian Benteke if they cannot sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton, according to reports.
New Chelsea manager Antonio Conte wants to land five footballers this summer, and a forward to provide competition for Spanish striker Costa is one of his preferences.
The Toffees star Lukaku is his top target despite the fact The West Londoners sold him for £28million just two seasons ago.
But, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping close tabs on Young striker
Everton, who are currently without a head coach after Roberto Martinez’s sacking, are believed to value Lukaku at £65m, and it is doubtful that Conte is eager to pay such fee.
According to The Times, Chelsea could turn their attention from Lukaku to Liverpool forward Christian Benteke.
The Belgian star arrived at Liverpool from Aston Villa last summer in a £32.5m move.

Benteke had scored 42 Premier League goals in his three campaigns at Villa Park and Liverpool in his first season at Anfield he has scored 9 goals.
But, the 25-year-old has struggled for form and shape at Anfield and has been used by manager Jurgen Klopp.
And if The Toffees do fail to sign Lukaku, they are believed to be viewing Benteke as other option.
Benteke could be snapped up for as little as £22m with The Reds desperate to regain most of what they spent for him a year ago.
