Radamel Falcao’s Premier League nightmare is over as he prepares to re-join AS Monaco.
However, a big-money move to Monaco was blighted by a serious knee injury — and two disastrous seasons with Manchester United and Chelsea ensued.
On Monaco official Instagram account, they posted a picture of the 30-year-old hitman undergoing a stress test in a bid to assess his physical condition after a year at Chelsea plagued by form and fitness problems.
“Let’s go for training. A smiling stress test for El Tigre,” the message alongside the post read.
‘El Tigre’ moved to Atletico Madrid after three seasons at Porto,
which yielded 72 goals in 87 appearances. The former Colombian captain
was paid £140,000 a week during his time with Chelsea.
Monaco’s vice president, Vadim Vasilyev, thought about bringing
Falcao back in January this year, but a calf problem saw that plan
thrown out the window.
His contract at The Red and Whites doesn’t expire until 2018, and it
is understood that Radamel will be given every opportunity to get back
into Leonardo Jardim’s first-team plans next term.
Official: Chelsea Announce the Departure of 21-year-old Midfielder
Earlier today the Premier League giants Chelsea have officially
announced that the 21-year-old starlet Lewis Baker will spend next
season out on loan at Eredivisie outfit Vitesse Arnhem.
The versatile Chelsea midfielder has made 34 appearances for the
Dutch outfit last season, scoring five goals – including the club’s goal
of the season – and will return as part of the Blues’ ongoing link with
the Dutch club.
England U-21 ace has yet to feature for the Blues first team and has
previously spent time out on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons.
“There was interest from several other clubs last summer but,
together with my family and Chelsea, I have discussed the options, and
we all believed that another year at Vitesse was the best option,” the
starlet told Vitesse’s official website.
“After the season I was allowed to participate in the Toulon
tournament, which was a successful tournament. I want to hold that form
and take it to the next season.
“I want to keep developing myself and improve to hopefully play a
good season…and I hope to contribute to the success of the club. ”
The Blues starlet has joined Nathan in committing to a second
successive campaign on loan to Henk Fraser’s man from North London after
the extension to the 20-year-old’s deal was announced in May.
Antonio Conte’s £28m Target Nainggolan Confirms Transfer Talks With Chelsea
Chelsea midfield target Radja Nainggolan has confirmed that before
travelling to France, he has spoken with Italian manager Antonio Conte,
but added that he remains loyal to his club and 2016/17 he will spend at
the Stadio Olimpico.
The Belgian midfielder has been a long-term target for the Blues, and
Antonio Conte is thought to be keen on the Serie A star, as Italy boss
previously tried to sign Nainggolan when he was in charge of Juventus.
During his interview in Bordeaux, Nainggolan admitted to reporters
that his agent and club had been in talks with the Stamford Bridge club,
but said he has promised Roma president James Pallotta he will stay on
at the Stadio Olimpico.
“I said to him I love where I am playing so why not stay?” the Belgian said.
“Chelsea were talking but at the moment there is nothing. The Premier
League is a big competition, it’s lovely, but I think sometimes in life
you need to make choices, and all I can say is that I am happy where I
am.”
Belgian boss Mark Wilmots has revealed a shocking secret about Nainggolan and claimed that box-to-box midfielder is a smoker.
“Yes, he smokes. That’s a habit, and in France and Italy many do it,” Wilmots told Belgian outlet Sporza.
“If he needs it, I’m not going to stop him. I am flexible about it.
It is his own body and as long as he performs on the field, I have no
problem.
“I always make sure that we give a room with a balcony to Raja, the
smoke alarm will not go off. He is the only one who smokes at the Red
Devils in my opinion.
“If I forbid him to smoke 5-6 cigarettes a day, he breaks the chamber
of myself. And it’s his problem if he mean but can play football until
his 30th instead of the 35th.”
Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich Enter the Race for Chelsea Star
Chelsea left-back Cesar Azpilicueta has been approached by La Liga
giants Barcelona ahead of a possible transfer, the reports say
Chelsea fans won’t be happy hearing the news, as the Spain
international has become a key member of the Blues’ backline in recent
seasons. The former Marseille man featuring on either side of the
defence and making 29 appearances as the Stamford Bridge club claimed
the 2014/15 Premier League title.
The Spanish media outlet, AS suggest Spanish champions have contacted
Azpilicueta this summer, with a deal for Arsenal right-back Hector
Bellerin looking increasingly unlikely.
Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague also believes
that the Spanish international could leave this summer, as along with
Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich also monitoring the
situation around him.
Balague said: “Some of the top clubs in Europe are after
Azpilicueta’s signature, not least because of his versatility in being
able to play in both full-back positions with equal confidence.
“If Chelsea were willing to sell, the front runners would be Atletico
Madrid, although they have recently coolled on the idea, turning their
attentions instead to Croatian full-back Sime Vrsaljko, who will soon
confirm that he is moving to the Spanish club.
“Bayern Munich are also known to have made an inquiry and his
ambidextrous qualities are also much sought-after by Barcelona. In
truth, the player that Barcelona really want is Hector Bellerin and they
still think they have a chance of taking him from under Arsenal’s
nose.”
It’s believed that Antonio Conte’s man are looking for around
£14million for Azpilicueta this summer, a figure which may come as a
surprise to fans of the North London club.
