How to burn off Euro 2016 calories?

Supporting a hopeless team is not only disappointing, but also more importantly bad for your health.

Fans of football have an unhealthy tendency to indulge in fatty foods and drinks, and when beer sales surge up, supporters’ waistbands soon follow.

While we are all guilty of indulging a pizza or beer once in awhile, the amount of time required on the pitch to make up for these treats has been revealed in a recent study to help us watch our waistlines as we watch the Euro 2016 finals.

The study led by leading sport nutrition company, MuscleFood, reveals how much exercise football fanatics need to burn off calories consumed while watching the game. The company examined some of the UK’s most popular snacks alongside the minutes it would take to burn them off on a football pitch.

According to the data published, devouring a pack of chocolate biscuits whilst watching the game is a massive mistake, which you will have to pay for by almost three hours of intense exercise to make up for the 1,485 calories consumed.

Sports fans also need to work up a sweat for over an hour if they fancy few bears, which with each 500ml can equating to 24 minutes of footballs.  Whereas, opting for crisps to go with the beers bumps up the calories and would require an extra 53 minutes on the field to burn off.

Despite this, a serving of chips alone is actually one of the lowest calorie snacks, and has 200 calories less than the seemingly healthier option of peanuts. Therefore, if you are a football fan and fancy something naughty you could grab a handful of chips in half time and burn off the calories by playing football until the end of the match.

The founder of MuscleFood, Darren Beale was the one to initiate a full inspection of types of food consumers are filling up on. “We all know that it’s not healthy to snack on fatty snacks, but the amount of football needed to burn off these popular items definitely came as a shock to us.”

Beale suggests, there is an option for those who like combining two enjoyments of eating whatever the heart desires and watching the football game. “One of the massive way to avoid overeating is by creating alternatives with lower fat and calories, including our Mighty Meaty Protein Pizza with a massive 70 percent less calories than the standard pepperoni and juts three grams of fat per serving and out Protein Pies, which are only 350 calories.”

The report concluded that the worst TV-viewing treat was pepperoni pizza, requiring over four hours on the pitch after indulging.
