Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is prepared to offer stiff competition to Chelsea in the chase to sign Hoffenheim centre-half Niklas Sule. The 21-year-old has evolved into a key player for the Bundesliga outfit and this earned him his maiden cap for Germany last month.
A report from The Sun claims that the player could be off to the Premier League in the New Year with interest among the likes of Liverpool, Everton and Chelsea.
Blues boss Antonio Conte is desperate to add a youthful centre-back to his ranks as he is not entirely convinced with the club’s summer business which saw the late arrivals of David Luiz and Marcos Alonso from Paris Saint-Germain and Fiorentina respectively.
On the other hand, Klopp does keep a keen eye on players from his home nation, and Sule is one, who has captured his attention the most.
The player’s representative has recently highlighted interest from the Premier League pairing, but they could face a transfer tussle with Everton, who are themselves challenging for a European qualification place this term.
Since graduating from Hoffenheim’s academy, Sule has racked over 90 outings in all competitions. He was recently involved at the Olympic games in Brazil where the German side lost out to the hosts in the finals, thus earning a silver medal.
