Chelsea star makes shocking revelation: I forgot how to play football

The Chelsea midfielder has endured a difficult campaign along with his fellow team-mates on the back of winning the 2014/15 title.

Fabregas' form in the Premier League deserted him along with many Chelsea players under Jose Mourinho.

In his first 20 league appearances this term, the Spain international failed to score and only registered two assists.

"One time after a game, after Bournemouth (a 1-0 defeat in November), I was in bed and I spoke to my wife," Fabregas explained to Goal. "I forgot how to play football, I have the ball and I don't know what to do with it.

"It was hard, those two or three months from November, when I had no confidence."

Chelsea lost nine league games before Mourinho was eventually sacked, but performances and spirits were raised somewhat when interim manager Guus Hiddink took over in December.

Fabregas' game has improved since the turn of the year, as he's netted four goals in 14 league matches, while the Blues also went 15 games unbeaten.

A slump of late has seen them suffer successive defeats and win just once in five games, but Fabregas is much happier with his own displays now.

"Everything has changed in the last few months, I'm playing very well," the 28-year-old added.

"Most importantly, it isn't how you get (knocked) down, it's how you get back up. I can be better now."

Fabregas is determined to impress incoming boss Antonio Conte when the Italian arrives after Euro 2016.

The centre-midfielder revealed on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football he has been researching Conte's tactics and strategies as a manager.

And on the boss, Fabregas said: "He is a winner and a competitor an that's what we need: someone to push us and motivate us.
