Ivanovic a surprise selection in pundit’s Team of the Season"

Despite having a campaign of two halves, Branislav Ivanovic has been named in Graeme Souness’ team of the season.

According to the Daily Star, Souness has named the defender in his best XI, despite the Serbian enduring a horrid first half of the season under Jose Mourinho.

Many Chelsea fans pointed the finger at Ivanovic as Chelsea’s attempt to defend their Premier League title failed miserably. Some fans were left even more bemused as he was handed a 12-month contract extension, and John Terry wasn’t.

The Serbian has turned his campaign around and has become a key figure under Guus Hiddink, taking the armband in John Terry’s absence.

Souness named an XI that looks like it would play a 4-3-3, a very attacking one too. The team is as follows:
