Ricardo Carvalho is backing Jose Mourinho to restore Manchester United to the top of English football in the seasons to come.
The Portuguese coach was appointed as the Red Devils’ new manager on a three-year contract last month after intense speculation linking him with the job.
Mourinho took over from Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford after the Red Devils opted to sack the Dutchman following the club’s fifth placed finish in the Premier League.
United will be hoping that Mourinho can transform the Red Devils back into title contenders, with the club not having won the title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in the summer of 2013.

And former Chelsea defender Carvalho, who played under Mourinho at Stamford Bridge and won the Premier League title, is backing the Portuguese coach to be an instant hit at the club.
Carvalho is quoted as saying by Metro: “I know that Jose will be a success at Manchester United.
“I have no doubt that he can bring trophies back to United again and that he will make them champions.
“I don’t know if it will be in the first year, the second year or the third, but he will win the title again. My prediction is that it will be in the second year.”
