Sunday 5th June – Latest Chelsea Transfer Gossip and News

Some persistent rumours following Chelsea at the moment, as the club may be thwarted in their attempts to sign a French international midfielder, and could be ready to sell a promising striker.

French media outlet Le Parisien are claiming that Paris Saint-Germain have offered Chelsea target N’Golo Kante a five-year contract. The Blues are among several major teams interested in signing the 25-year-old from Leicester City, available for £20 million due to his release clause. Although Kante apparently wants to remain in the Premier League, PSG would be offering the chance of guaranteed silverware in his home country, as well as a substantial wage increase.

Transfer Probability: 3/5 – Kante has gone on record to state he will not make a decision until after the Euros, so it’s difficult to gauge the rumours at the moment.

In an interview with French football programme Telefoot, Chelsea star Eden Hazard has dismissed transfer gossip linking him with PSG. The Belgian international’s future at Stamford Bridge has been called into question after a poor season, but Hazard insists that he will remain at the club. The 25-year-old said ‘If I have to leave, I must do it as a boss’, seemingly keen to prove himself once more to the Chelsea supporters.

Transfer Probability: 1/5 – Everything Hazard has said in recent weeks has been in support of staying at Chelsea. There’s no way that the midfielder will be moving anywhere this summer.

Lastly, the Newcastle Chronicle report that the newly-relegated Newcastle United want to sign Chelsea youngster Patrick Bamford for around £10 million. The 20-year-old failed to earn much playing time on-loan with Crystal Palace or Norwich this season, and seems unlikely to break into the Blues’ first-team. However, the Magpies are eager to make a quick return to the Premier League under Rafa Benitez, and recognise Bamford as an ideal signing with proven Championship experience.

Transfer Probability: 4/5 – Almost certain to happen as Bamford joins a long list of squandered Chelsea talent. Newcastle are content to spend, and the player will probably be happy for regular football.
