Jose Mourinho intends to bring Sir Alex Ferguson back
into the football world with the Special One insistent that the former
United manager should have an influence on the club's affairs.
Sir Alex retired after the 2012 -2013 season, winning Manchester United a record 20th Premier
League title. Since then the Scot has been out in the cold, away from
matters regarding on how the club should move forward.
He was allowed to choose his successor, which in retrospect proved to be one of his poor decisions.
The top brass at Manchester United have
been reportedly ignoring Ferguson's counsel regarding how the club
should move on, with the money men having a more prominent say. The
American Glazer family are in control of the choices made, having a
majority stake at the club.
Former Chief Executive of the Red
Devils David Gill, who was in charge of transfers, does not also have a
say in matters since leaving the post and becoming a director on the
board.
Mourinho wishes to tap into the wealth of experience that Ferguson offers
The
legendary Glaswegian is on the fringes at Manchester United since his
retirement, with managers who succeeded him not tapping into his wealth
of experience. Mourinho now wants to bring the financial and football
branches of the club closer together, in order to bring Manchester
United back to the top of English football.
Harvard
University have previously brought in Sir Alex as an honourary professor
for lectures on management, using his football management principles
for use off the field and in real-life situations.
Sources inside
the club have indicated that Ferguson is somewhat frustrated with
his lack of involvement in the club’s affairs. Sir Bobby Charlton has
also been pushed out of internal decisions along with Ferguson.
Jose
Mourinho is sympathetic to that and wishes Ferguson to be more closely
integrated to the Glazer-led board. Mourinho has previously insisted
that Sir Alex Ferguson is free to visit the Carrington training grounds.
Mutual respect between them
Mourinho
and Ferguson have been rivals for a long time, which began with
Mourinho's memorable visit to Old Trafford as Porto manager. Later on,
Mourinho would join Chelsea to deny Manchester United the title in 2005
and 2006.
Mourinho was one of the few managers to have a good
record against Sir Alex Ferguson and United. Their last meeting was the
infamous Champions League tie between Real Madrid and Manchester United,
 which United lost.
Jose Mourinho has always had a cordial
relationship with Sir Alex regardless of how heated the matches were
between them. Mourinho has praised and admired Sir Alex's tactics and
his ability to bring the best out of his players.
